Jeff Jenkins Productions sets first-look deal with US actress Shondrella Avery

LA-based Jeff Jenkins Productions (JJP) has signed US actress and producer Shondrella Avery (Napoleon Dynamite, End of Watch) to an exclusive first-look deal.

Under the deal, Avery will collaborate with JJP president Jeff Jenkins to co-develop and produce unscripted content across a variety of genres, with a focus on projects led by BIPOC talent.

JJP was launched in 2018 as a joint venture between Jenkins, who was an executive producer on the Keeping Up With the Kardashians franchise, and 3 Ball Entertainment (now 3BMG).

The company has produced shows such as Netflix’s Bling Empire and My Unorthodox Life, and is working on upcoming Bravo show Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. JJP and Avery are also currently in development on projects with R&B artist Macy Gray and former NBA basketball player John Salley.

Avery’s acting credits over the past two decades include Napoleon Dynamite, The Secret Life of Bees, Déjà Vu, End of Watch, Single Drunk Female and The Neighborhood. She has also produced and exec produced more than 20 series and features.

“I’ve known Shondrella for years and have always admired her drive and endless capabilities, as both a performer and a behind-the-scenes creative,” said Jenkins.

“I’m so pleased she chose JJP as her partner for unscripted content, and our team is incredibly inspired by the fresh concepts and dynamic talent she’s already bringing to the space.”
